This shape is then fired at extremely high temperatures in a kiln which is essentially an oven. The result is a very dense of vitrified material with almost no water absorption.

The Desert Wildflowers Collection of ceramic tiles is a collaboration between Country Floors and Julia Buckingham.A noted American interior designer and author whose eponymous studio is based in Chicago, Ms. Buckingham resides and designs for part of each year in Arizona.There, she found inspiration for the tile in the desert flora of the southwestern United States. The six-inch square tiles are modern, abstract watercolor interpretations of blooms found on wildflowers native to the great plains and desert southwest. The Status Ceramic Collection is a beautiful ceramic assemblage featuring beautifully designed patterns combined with a wonderful palette of versatile colors.This glossy ceramic tile is a perfect choice for a focal point in a chic space. At home in any interior wall application, this collection is an excellent fit for bath, kitchen, and living room areas seeking character and charm.Our ceramic tiles are hand pressed with traditional wet press machines. Wet ceramic presses reasonably old, but unlike machine made tiles, each tile is unique. Wet clay takes several days to dry before it is fired the first time. When the tiles are fired or baked the first time, they then go for glazing. Our glazes are all ancient glaze recipes with unique, vibrant colors. Besides beautiful whites and grays, many vibrant blue-glazed ceramics and metallic hues are offered.Status ceramics are available in many unique shapes besides the traditional subway tile format. Arabesque, elongated hexagon, Pentagon shaped tile, and classic chevron is some of the most popular forms. The classic subway tile is still one of the top sellers.You can use our status tiles by themselves, or in unique color combinations. Black and white tile, black and white chevron is some of the most popular shapes.We recommend using a good quality thin-set for installing our tiles.

Ceramic tile is made from clay, talc, kaolin and some other bonding materials. There are thousands of formulas and recipes for ceramic tiles. Each factory has its own formula and raw materials depending on the area where locally sourced materials are available. Each factory has its own recipe and years of trial and error.Which is better porcelain or ceramic tile?
We get asked this question all the time. Porcelain tile is more durable and will wear and tear better. However, due to its low absorption rate, vibrant colors and designs are not available in porcelain tiles. Ceramic tiles, while limited in commercial tile applications, can be produced with thousands of lively vibrant colors. In addition, many unique designs and patterns can be easily applied on ceramic tiles. This makes the expression of art and individual design much easier on ceramic tiles.What about Status Ceramic Tile collection
Status ceramic tile was found in Seattle Washinton almost 40 years ago. It took founders of this factory decades to develop their own ceramic tile formulas, also called recipes. Each clay color, fruits, and colors in glazed ceramic tiles react differently to various firing formulas in kilns and the way glazes are applied. When Status Ceramic Tile factory owners retired, Country Floors bought the factory and its decades worth of hand made ceramic tile tradition.One other factor made this factory unique. Tradition of wet presses gave a lot of flexibility to make unique designs and shapes. Gifted craftsmen make these molds from chalk which requires tremendous talent and partisanship. These molds are hand-carved and last only so long. Every 400 or so presses they have to be remade. These tiles are hand-pressed and then dry at room temperature. They are then fired in small kilns. Finally, end product is glazed by hand and fired again.
