The story of classic Delft Dutch Tile starts in the small city of Delft in the Netherlands. This same city gave us the Dutch master Vermeer and his iconic masterpiece, “Girl with a Pearl Earring.” The ceramic tile that concerns us here for this post is rooted in the history of Italian ceramic artists making their way north to Holland in the 16th century. They brought with them tin glazeing techniques that still are used today.
